Sun Tattoo

Sun Tattoo
Sun Tattoo

It’s amazing that one of the most popular tattoo designs are of a ball of gas that is millions of miles away from Earth. Yep, I’m talking about sun tattoos, but the picture probably tipped you off in the first place. The rich mythology surrounding the sun means there is a wealth of different sun tattoo styles that can be found depicting its image. Many choose to get the sun and moon depicted together, as they are complimentary and, in some cultures, symbolize male and female power. Others choose the blocky, tribal style of Aztec suns.

The sun can also be a symbol of rebirth, so some people choose to combine it with other imagery such as Celtic knots and stars. The light and dark, good and evil symbolism are also a reason that people are so drawn to these tats. And of course, there are various tribal sun tattoo designs, like the one in the picture. Of course, I find that these are my least favorite designs of the genre because they seem so uncharacteristic of the actual sun. I like my sun tattoos to be rich in color, with shades of orange, yellow and red. But, then again who asked me?

Angel Tattoo

Angel Tattoo
Angel Tattoo

Angel tattoos are an overtly religious symbols, though there are variations that play on the Norse concept of the valkryie. It can symbolize a great number of different things. It can be used as a centerpiece of a memorial. It can be also be an announcement of one’s religious beliefs, signify a great devotion to Christianity or used as a symbol of protection. The guardian angel tattoo is very common among Western European countries and is usually placed on the back of the wearer. This is to signify that the angel always is watching your back. Angel tattoos are usually associated strongly with other symbols.

Symbols closely associated with angels in art include trumpets, harps, swords, sceptres and wands. It can also be adorned with banners, scrolls or other religious symbols such as crosses. Angels in angel tattoos are usually portrayed as young men with wings and halos, representing their divinity or as young women, sometimes scantily clad representing strength and courage. The representation of angels as Cupid-like young boys or babies or cherubs did not occur until the period of the Renaissance but is increasingly becoming popular among young females, especially coupled with flower elements or some other ornamental feature.

Tribal Arm Tattoos

Tribal Arm Tattoos
Tribal Arm Tattoos

When it comes to tribal arm tattoos this is one of the better ones I have seen for a while. It’s sharp, sleek and to the point and it makes an impression immediately to anyone who looks at it. Now certainly that impression can vary, but it makes the impression just the same. I guess this tattoo could be a dragon or even some sort of weapon but whatever it is I am sure it stands for some kind of warrior, one way or the other.

It makes me think of the warriors of old ready to go into battle with another tribe at any moment.

For me, tribal arm tattoos always mean some sort of toughness. Yes, it has a tendency to make me think that the person wearing it is a tough guy. I know that’s a little crazy because certainly there are people with tribal arm tattoos who are not tough guys, but that is the impression I get from them just the same. That is probably because many of the mixed martial arts fighters on television wear these same sort of tribal tattoos and there is no doubt that they are all real tough guys.

Sea Life Tattoos

Sea Life Tattoos
Sea Life Tattoos

Sea life tattoos can be the perfect compliment to any collection of body art. Sea life tattoos can be used for those who have a fondness for marine animals or by those who identify with a particular sea animal. Either way, these tattoos can be beautiful additions to a persons collection of tattoos especially when they are inked in bright hues of blue and green.

There are about as many different sea life tattoos as a person can imagine. There are schools of fish, sharks, octopuses and seahorses. And that is just a start.

I have seen brilliant sea life tattoos that even use mythological marine animals. A friend of mine has a ship being attacked by a giant squid. It makes for quite an impressive tattoo.

Which takes me to my next point about sea life tattoos. They can be really impressive when combined with other nautical elements such as the aforementioned ship, anchors and even swallows. The person interested in sea life tattoos can mix and match these various elements to make a tattoo that is both beautiful and unique to the individual. Combine those with inks that really pop and you have the perfect storm of elements for an incredible tattoo.

David Beckham Tattoos

David Beckham Tattoos
David Beckham Tattoos

Here is a great picture of some of David Beckham tattoos. This picture of him and his son was captured at a basketball game I believe. I don’t know what this guy is more known for, his soccer career or his extensive tattoo collection. It’s quite large and he has one tattoo artist he turns to when he wants a new one. His tattoo artist is named Louis Malloy and he is one of the most famous tattoo artist in the United Kingdom. And that’s probably due to the fact the he does David Beckham tattoos! But, enough with him, let’s continue our discussion about David Beckham tattoos.

The first one that I would like to talk about are the ones that he sports on his back. He not only has an angel inked in the middle of his back but he also has the names of his three children, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz. Let’s move on to the winged cross on the back of his neck. This David Beckham tattoo was inked during the 4004 UEFA championships. He had his tattoo artist fly all the way to Spain to do this tattoo. Incidently, this was the same time that David Beckham shaved his head. The reaction from UK fans were mixed because some thought that the combination of the neck tattoo and his shaved head made him look like a thug.

Skull Tattoo Designs

Skull Tattoo Designs
Skull Tattoo Designs

I find this to be one of the more interesting skull tattoo designs I have seen lately. Most of us recognize the words from the famous song. War, what is a good for? Absolutely nothing! Say it again! And so on and so on. And so this is meant to be an anti-war tattoo which also explains the crosses around the skull as well as the tear that is dropping from one of the skulls eyes. But either way, this as one of those skull tattoo designs, is just flat out cool looking man. It really is.

And it doesn’t matter if it stands for war or against war. It’s still a great looking piece of artwork. I love the way the artist was able to make this whole thing look like chrome. Very good work here.

This is a very cool and very imaginative design and I like it very much. It’s a great diversion from all the other skull tattoo designs that one usually sees. You know, the ones that look like real skulls. Many of them are so much the same that they get boring but not this one. This one has a look and style of its very own.

Family Tattoos

Family Tattoos
Family Tattoos

There are a number of different family tattoo designs available to the average person. Some of these represent the lineage of the family and still others are done as a memorial to a loved one who has passed away. Despite which type of family tattoo you choose to get however, you can rest assured that you will be taking part in a tradition that has been practiced since the dawn of tattooing.

A family crest is a common type of family tattoo. This design is often confused with the coat of arms, but the crest is actually only one part of the coat of arms.

The coat of arms is usually the central focus of a coat of arms and it is often topped with either a knights helmet or an animal, either real or mythological. The person who gets this type of family tattoo should take care that the artist blends it in with the rest of the tattoo design correctly.

Another type of family tattoo is the memorial tattoo. This tattoo is used to give honor to a relative that has passed away. It often combines elements that are symbolic of the person in question, but also may contain elements that are symbolic of the person receiving it. Either way, this family tattoo can be a stirring and thoughtful addition to any collection of body art.

Pirate Tattoos

Pirate Tattoos
Pirate Tattoos

Pirate tattoo designs immediately conjure images of rebellion and adventure in most people. There is something romantic about the pirate, something that has captured our imaginations for centuries. And nothing conveys this image better than the pirate tattoo.

Pirate is a word that is derived from the Latin term “pirata”, which means marine adventurer, but this isn’t the only word used for these people. Other terms that have been popular over the years include freebooter and skimmer. No matter which term is used however, images of adventure on the high seas are always brought to mind.

Pirate tattoos often combine other nautical design elements such as ships, sparrows and sometimes anchors. The most frequently used pirate tattoo element is the dreaded pirate flag, which is usually a black flag with a skull and crossbones on it. This pirate tattoo is the one that most aptly captures all that it means to be a pirate and is often a favorite among tattoo enthusiasts. Even people who don’t identify with pirate tattoos will find the skull and crossbones flag a moving and exciting tattoo. If you are thinking about getting a pirate tattoo, then this is probably the first design that springs to mind.

Tattoo Drawings

Tattoo Drawings
Tattoo Drawings

Before you embark on the great journey of getting your great idea turned into a tattoo you’ll need to have a tattoo drawing first. This is basically just a rough draft of your preliminary design. And it’s a step that you can begin yourself even if you have no artistic ability. Once you get that brainstorm of an idea then simply take a piece of paper and sketch out the design. It doesn’t matter if it actually looks like what you want the finished product to be. Don’t worry, your tattoo artist will take your tattoo drawing and use it as a starting point for your tattoo.

He’ll then work from this basic blue print and expand it till it meets your ideal. But, maybe your not comfortable going this route. If that’s the case then don’t waste a minute worrying about. Your local tattoo artist will have a large collection of tattoo drawings otherwise known as flash. You can flip through these designs and choose the one that suits you. You can then have the artist do the design exactly as it appears in the tattoo drawing or have him add personal touches to it for you. Remember, the sky’s the limit and your tattoo design is limited only by your imagination, the amount of skin you have and how much your willing to pay.

Tattoo Patterns

Tattoo Patterns
Tattoo Patterns

Here is another grouping of some fine tattoo patterns. This collection urges the users to express himself and offers quite a selection of different styles and motifs. I’m going to talk about a few that I especially like, though your opinion and mine may differ slightly. My favorite tattoo pattern has to be the Grim reaper that is centered in the middle of this grouping. While it’s not the most technically proficient grim reaper tattoo pattern, I still think that it’s a pretty good design.

My next favorite is the skull tattoo pattern that is located near the bottom of the picture. It kind of looks like a cauldron, though I know that’s not what it’s supposed to be. My final favorite of this tattoo pattern grouping is the dagger with a rose entwined around it’s blade. I think that not only is this a cool pattern but it also has deep symbolic meaning. The dagger represents hate and violence and the rose symbolizes love and peace. It looks like the rose has also succeeded in subduing the dagger with it’s thorns! Which of these designs that are pictured here do you like the most? Go ahead choose your favorite.

Tinkerbell Tattoos

Tinkerbell Tattoos
Tinkerbell Tattoos

I would describe this tinkerbell tattoo as the standard type that many of us are familiar with. Nothing fancy or magical about it at all. But, there is so much you can do with these designs. Tinkerbell tattoo designs can be combined with other symbols very skillfully. Among the various types of symbols, the most relevant is the tinkerbell sprinkling her fairy and magical dust. However, there are many other illustrations where tinkerbell has been depicted as spoiled and naughty girl who is carrying a Halloween jack-o-lantern and sometimes dancing with life-size dolls.

Some of the other symbols that can be featured with things like hearts, flowers and even flames also.If you are looking for some uncommon design ideas of tinkerbell tattoos you can alter the image with Gothic look. The image of the goth tinkerbell is comes on striped black and red stockings and the wings are cracked that comes in gray color. Another uncommon version that comes under this same category is the pinup tinkerbell tattoo. A slight curvier version of tinkerbell can also make another uncommon tattoo design ideas. In this image the tinkerbell wears a fishnet stockings, bright red colored lipstick while giving a hither expression.

Deer Tattoos

Deer Tattoos
Deer Tattoos

This is one of the very few deer tattoos I have ever seen. I could be wrong but I do not think these are very popular. At least not in the major cities. Possibly more out in the country where a lot more hunting goes on. And there it is easily understood. I have known many people who take their deer hunting very seriously and it would not surprised me at all to see any one of those people with deer tattoos on their arm, especially a nice small one like this.

Other than the hunting connection there are some other meanings attributed to the deer tattoo. The ancient Celtics had many myths about the deer and considered it to be an animal of grace and as such they linked it to both music and poetry.

Then I see deer tattoos that look like this one, I always think of the old movie, The Deer Hunter, because an image very much like this one was the logo for that movie. And that movie was a very powerful movie. In China the deer is a symbol of happiness and good fortune. And the deer is also know in many cultures as a graceful animal that will not fight unless provoked.

Gun Tattoos

Gun Tattoos
Gun Tattoos

Here we have a guy with one of those gun tattoos. He’s got a revolver and a nautical star just off to the side of his left hip. But I am not at all certain he meant this to have the meaning of a nautical start and a gun. The first thing that comes to my mind is that of just a star and a gun. Like the star of a lawman. As in, I’m the boss here so don’t do anything wrong or I’m going to straighten things out. At least that what it says to me.

But what it says to me doesn’t hardly matter. What matters is what it says to the man who is wearing the tattoo.

Regardless of what the meaning behind this one is, as far as gun tattoos goes, it is an interesting one just the same. The gun itself is very cool with its spider web type of handle including a skull and cross bones and its detail on the rest of the weapon is nice too. If I were to get one of these gun tattoos this might be one that I would consider because I like it a lot. It’s cool man.

Lotus Tattoos

Lotus Tattoos
Lotus Tattoos

Lotus flower tattoo designs can be very beautiful and often have symbolism that relates to religions that stretch all over Asia. The lotus flower starts at the bottom of a pond as a small bud that eventually overcomes the muck and blossoms into a beautiful flower which rides along the waves of the pond. The ability of this flower to rise from the mud and become a thing of beauty makes it very symbolic. In Buddhism and Hinduism, the lotus flow represents spiritual awakening.

In modern times, this symbolic meaning of the lotus flower tattoo is tied into its religious meaning. Many body art enthusiasts believe that a lotus flower tattoo represents life, while others believe it represents man vain quest for the perfection in life. Either way, the lotus flower tattoo design is very beautiful and can hold deep meaning to the bearer.

Lotus flower tattoos are also become increasingly popular for those who have gone through a difficult time in their life and are now coming out of it. Like the flower that begins its life buried in the mud and muck, they have rose through adversity and have reached the light at the end of their journey.
