This tattoo looks kind of like an organizational tattoo that members of some club would get. Kind of like the arm tattoos certain college fraternity members get once they pass all the tests they need to join. I like the big crow at the top of the design. Not sure what the other big symbol stands for, I guess it is a coat of arms or something of that nature. You can put almost anything you want on arm tattoos, but this one has to have some kind of special meaning.
The words below the tattoo might be Latin, can’t really be sure but it looks like it to me. I see some red in this tattoo, but a lot of the arm tattoos of this design are usually just black with no color involved. Probably put the color mixed in to give it some depth or could be another meaning of sorts. I like the arm tattoos a lot of marine graduates get right out of boot camp. This design makes me think of the marines immediately when I see it. They are both different in lots of ways, but some ways they are very close the same. I bet ten to one this is like a Masonic group of members.
You know arm tattoos have been around for centuries, but not until boxers and the warriors in the ultimate fighting clubs started getting them, did they really become popular. I remember during the first year of the ultimate fighting championships on television, their was one fighter that had arm tattoos and everyone went whoa this guy is really bad. That’s the type of response they were looking for out of the crowd, and also out of their opponents. For some reason arm tattoos were used exclusively for an intimidation tactic.
I’ve seen lots of arm tattoos and this one here does nothing for me. I don’t really like the design, it doesn’t look like any thought was put into it before the tattoo was given. If you are going to have such a large area taken up by a tattoo, you better put lots of thought into it, because there’s not a lot of back tracking you can do once you have it on your arm. I personally like the arm tattoos that have tons of colors and out of this world characters in them. Almost like out of the comic books you see on the new stands these days.
If your looking to adorn your body with a new tattoo then you might want to check out the beautiful arm tattoo in the picture. At first glance you would think that it’s your run of the mill tribal design. But, upon closer inspection you’ll notice that there is a whole lot going on with it. The artist decided to add two extra elements to it to make it pop even more. The first thing that was added to this arm tattoo was six stars at the end of the tattoo, three on each side.
This brings the design up and naturally draws your attention to the entire piece. Another thing that the artist decided to do with this arm tattoo was to put lettering in the middle of it. I’m not exactly sure what it say, but it could any number of things. It could be a motto, a friends initials or even the initials of the city where the bearer comes from. I thought this was an interesting thing to add to this arm tattoo because normally you don’t see any kind of lettering fonts on tribal tattoos. They are usually too dark for it to be properly seen. But, in this example it was worked perfectly into the arm tattoo.
I have to say if you think an arm tattoo always has to be something manly, then you got it all wrong my friend. Lots of women will use things such as this picture of colorful flowers as an arm tattoo. Most likely this woman has a love for beautiful flowers, or she might be a horticulturist, who knows. But you can pretty much get away with using anything you really want as the design for a great arm tattoo. I think the flowers in this tattoo are a little to much for my taste.
I would have rather seen some flowers with quite a few more vines twirling around to give it some excitement. But hey that’s just one opinion which doesn’t mean squat when it comes to someone else’s arm. Its also my opinion that I like a lot of color in a good arm tattoo. I really like the greens, reds and yellows in this design and if my eyes aren’t deceiving me I do see a little purple around the edges here and there. I saw a tattoo pretty much like this one in San Francisco a while back and it had some sweet looking marijuana leaves circling at the bottom of the tattoo. It was very sweet indeed. |
