This person has a very nice butterfly tattoo on the back of their shoulder. Blue butterflies as a matter of fact and quite attractive ones I must say. This is a nice and neutral type of tattoo that no one is ever going to take offense at. If they ever do then there is something wrong with them. After all, what could be offensive about a couple of playful butterflies flying around. But you just never know about some people.

There are some people out there who will find something to complain about no matter what you do, so just do what you want to do and don’t pay them no mind.

Usually a butterfly tattoo is seen on a girl but I have seen a few of them on men in my time. In some parts of the world I understand this is very common actually. The butterfly tattoo is seen as a symbol of freedom and an expression of change for the good. And this is because of how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly over just a few weeks of metamorphosis. This butterfly tattoo is very simple but also very well done. Nice tattoo.

I like the blue and the black in this butterfly tattoo, kind of looks like a part of a design I saw on a rock music cd a while back. I think it was by the band Heart, might be wrong but I don’t think I am. This design looks like the highly detailed designs of Edo and Yokohama. Two of the best Japanese designers in the world these days. One will always say the butterfly tattoo is their own design, but most designs are basically copies of what the masters have done over the years.

What’s good about a butterfly tattoo is that they can be placed anywhere on the body and will look good no matter what.

You can have a butterfly any color and it looks good. You can put it on the top of your head and the butterfly tattoo will look good. Who have you ever heard say they hate butterflies? No one says they hate them because they are so damn pretty. They can be big they can be small, they can be thin they can be fat, everyone loves the pretty butterfly. Even kids that run and chase butterflies are chasing them for their beauty, not to hurt them.

When it comes to butterfly tattoo designs anything goes, it all depends on the clients visual acceptance. They come in all sizes and colors. Take this butterfly for example, it might be done in black only but you can tell it’s a butterfly even when you are looking at it from a long distance away. Some people like that, I personally like something that makes the viewer have to take a second look when they are checking out a tattoo.

Sometimes butterfly tattoo designs can take the shape of more than one design depending on how far away the viewer is at when they start looking.

It’s neat to see someone start from far back, and then see that the tattoo is very different as they get closer to it. That will play games with someone’s mind and that’s what I like out of a design. I try not to read to much into the meaning of butterfly tattoo designs, you start getting into this and that of meanings and it will drive you completely insane if your not careful. You go from loving butterfly tattoo designs, to getting frustrated with them very quickly if you are trying to put meaning into them versus just making them as beautiful as you can.

I remember one year I was in Brazil for a vacation and this girl came walking down the beach and these butterfly tattoo designs on her back that were so beautiful it left me speechless. I started talking to her and she told me she was an animal activist from New York down here on vacation also. I asked what made her decide on the butterfly tattoo designs she had, and she said she couldn’t believe she had caught people in New York swatting them with fly swatters to get rid of them out of their balcony flower gardens.

Man that blew me away, I have never heard of anyone killing butterflies, in a way it makes you mad, but then some people are insensitive to anything that walks or flies. I asked her who drew her butterfly tattoo designs for her and she told an old guy located in China Town that did nothing but butterfly tattoo designs. She couldn’t remember his name, and didn’t have his card. I told her to hook me up once we got back to the states so I gave her my number and I took hers also. I am looking forward to meeting this genius designer.

Now here we have one big beautiful blue butterfly sitting squarely down upon a big and beautiful blue flower. Why they are both blue I do not know but they look good just the same. And I think they would look very good as a tattoo butterfly as well. I am fairly certain that this butterfly is called a Tiger Swallowtail. I know this because I use to catch and mount butterflies as a very young child and for some reason I actually remember some of that stuff. At least I like to think I do.

As I remember this butterfly would have been primarily yellow in color. All of the black areas would sill be black but all other areas would be a very soft, dull yellow.

This sample of a tattoo butterfly is obviously an artists rendering of a potential tattoo and that makes it that much tougher to choose it as one you might like to get. It is hard to tell ahead of time if your tattoo artist is going to be able to copy this just as you see it. Now, if he can, and he can keep this kind of sharpness and contrast to it, then it’s going to make a very stunning tattoo butterfly.
