Daisy tattoo designs highlight a flower that has had a number of different meanings over the course of human history. Daisies have represented everything from love and pure intentions, to gentleness and innocence. Daisies have even symbolized the eternal rest of death. It’s meaning in your work of body art is determined by what you want to express about yourself or your life.

The daisy was so important to ancient cultures that it even had a myth associated with it.

According to the Romans, a fair nymph named Belides was dancing in a field when she turned herself into a daisy to avoid being seen by the god of the orchard, Vertumnus. She was unable to turn herself back and would forever stand as the symbol of beauty and love. In other mythologies, the daisy is a sacred flower to the gods.

One interesting daisy tattoo that I have recently seen is based on a love motif. It features the daisy losing flowers as if someone was plucking them, perhaps while singing “she loves me…she loves me not”. This daisy tattoo design was done in a myriad of brilliant shades of white, yellow and blue and made for quite an impressive tattoo.
