Deer Tattoos

As far as deer tattoos go I would have to consider this one, one of the best I have seen. It’s a beautiful rendition of a large, eight point buck standing among the trees and looking out over it’s domain. It is very well colored and very well detailed. And I like this tattoo a lot. I am not a big fan of deer pictures as it were but I am a big fan of good artwork and this is good work, plain and simple. Not spectacular, but very good. And it is hard to fault it.

I know that there are literally millions of hunters out there who when looking at a buck like this can think of nothing but shooting it with a rifle or a bow. Because that is what they do. And there’s nothing wrong with hunting. I don’t care for it myself but I support it completely. Truth be known, I’d much rather go fishing. But lets get back to these deer tattoos. If you want a tattoo like this find a tattoo artist would can draw you a sample of one that your really, really like and that is the person who should put your tattoo on.

	Deer Tattoos

This is one of the very few deer tattoos I have ever seen. I could be wrong but I do not think these are very popular. At least not in the major cities. Possibly more out in the country where a lot more hunting goes on. And there it is easily understood. I have known many people who take their deer hunting very seriously and it would not surprised me at all to see any one of those people with deer tattoos on their arm, especially a nice small one like this.

Other than the hunting connection there are some other meanings attributed to the deer tattoo. The ancient Celtics had many myths about the deer and considered it to be an animal of grace and as such they linked it to both music and poetry.

Then I see deer tattoos that look like this one, I always think of the old movie, The Deer Hunter, because an image very much like this one was the logo for that movie. And that movie was a very powerful movie. In China the deer is a symbol of happiness and good fortune. And the deer is also know in many cultures as a graceful animal that will not fight unless provoked.
