Eye Tattoos

Eye Tattoos

One of the newest trends in the world of body ink is eye tattoos. For those who aren’t familiar with this new trend, let me tell you a little bit about it. Eye tattoos involve either inking the eye with a pigment to completely change its color or adding a design right onto the ball of the eye. Both of these methods can look pretty cool when done correctly, but they can also have some serious complications.

The trend of eye tattoos begin with people getting designs inked onto the white part of their eye. These designs were usually very small and include such elements as hearts, stars, initials and even small animals.

When it was first started it was extremely controversial, but not as controversial as the movement that grew out of this trend.

People became dissatisfied with just inking designs onto their eyes. They decided to take eye tattoo designs a little bit further. These people began coloring the entire white portion of their eye with various inks. I have seen people with everything from blue to red and even black. They seem a bit creepy, but the health risks are what really worry me. Complications can range from infection to blindness, and even the loss of the eye. To me, these complications far outweigh the “coolness factor” of these eye tattoos.
