Here we have a couple of pretty cool looking and matching foot tattoos. These two are simple tattoos but they get right to the point. Just a plain sort of design around the top of the foot mostly. These foot tattoos really reminded me of the time I saw a guy with sandals tattooed to his feet. Yes, sandals. He had them put on in such a way that you though he really was wearing a pair of sandals, and unless you got up close to him and took a good look, you would never know that it was really just tattoos.
He was kind of a goofy guy though and use to joke that he did that so he could go in and out of the little stores in the area without them telling him he had to have shoes on. I guess he thought that was funny. It’s cute, but not really funny and I never believed that was the real reason he got them.
They say getting foot tattoos can be the most painful tattoos to get because the skin is so close to the bone, and that they require the most aftercare as well to prevent infection and such things. I am not sure if that is true or not.
Many women choose to get a foot tattoo is because of the size of the design. Foot tattoo designs tend to be smaller so they take less time to ink. And with less time under the needle that means that there is also less pain from being tattooed. Another thing that makes foot tattoos attractive to females is that the tattoo can be easily hidden just by wearing normal foot apparel. So, if tattoos aren’t permitted at her place of employment then she can cover it.

But, if she goes out clubbing with her friends then she can show it off with pride. Take a look at the foot tattoo in the picture. It’s what I would call a common female design. It shows off a beautiful flower design that wraps around the ankle. This type of design fits a women’s foot especially well since it take advantage of the natural curves and soft lines of a ladies foot. The only thing that perplexes me about this tattoo is the lack of color. I would think that a foot tattoo that had a flower design would also be done with very bright and colorful inks. But, then again maybe this design isn’t finished yet.

Foot tattoos have gained a certain level of popularity in recent times, especially among females. This can probably be attributed to the increased use of open toed shoe designs found with flip flops and high heels. Foot tattoos can be striking but often require a lot of aftercare. Ink migration, the spreading of the ink out of the tattoo, can be an elevated risk with foot tattoos. Also, it is thought that these tattoos are generally more painful than placement on say, the arm. That’s because tattoos done over bone tend to hurt more than those done over soft tissue.

So, an upper arm or chest tattoo may be a better choice for a novice who is worried about their first tattoo or don’t know quite what to expect. If you get a foot tattoo, be prepared to go back and have it re-inked if need be. The top of your foot is the best place with the least blurring, avoid other places like the sides or the heels. The positive side of foot tattoos is that they are generally easier to hide, if you need to cover them for work for instance. And another positive is that these tattoos can really look cool if they are done by a skillful artist and proper care is taken of them.
Getting a foot tattoo can both be a beautiful piece of art and at the same time be a real pain to maintain. Foot tattoos require more diligence in maintaining them compared to other tattoos. For one, the top of the foot is hard to cover and it’s recommended that tattoos be initially covered in order to allow them to heal properly. So, after getting a foot tattoo you may have to opt out of wearing open toed shoes until it’s healed! Plus, any rubbing on the newly done tattoo will most likely result in irritation.

Another issue with foot tattoos is infection. If you opt to not wear shoes while it’s healing then all kinds of dirt and gunk can get into them, and trust me an infected tattoo is by no means fun at all. But, there are also positives associated with these tattoos. One, they are easy to cover if your in a work or social situation that frowns upon skin ink. And two, these pieces can really be striking works of art and showcase the skills of the tattoo artist who inked it. The most common designs for foot tattoos are flowers, stars or in the case of the picture butterflies. |
