Here are a couple of interesting heart tattoos. While there appears to be a good variety of them, I don’t see any heart tattoos that really catch my eye. Most of these designs are too cute for my taste. But, there are a few heart tattoos that I think would look good on my wife, so let’s talk a little about them. The first heart tattoos that I think would look on my wife are the two designs in the center that appear to have horns.

These appear to be heart tattoos that are crossed with the astrological sign of Aries. And since that’s my sign then she could get one of these heart tattoos inked on her skin and maybe put my name across it on a banner or on the bottom of the design. The other heart tattoo that I think my wife would like is the one that’s in the shape of a candy cane. You see, candy canes are my wife’s favorite candy so why not immortalize her true love in a tattoo design? I mean she’s probably more likely to stop loving me then stop loving candy canes!! Of course that’s not true but it sure is funny.

I think that most people are familiar with heart tattoos. You can see them everywhere, from the hips and thighs of women to the arms and chest of men. And I do believe that most people would be familar with the meaning behind heart tattoos as well. I mean who doesn’t know that the heart tattoo is a symbol of undying love? But, what most people don’t realize is just how versatile these designs really are. They can be placed anywhere on the body and come in a variety of different styles.

You can get the traditional burning heart design or kick it up a notch by combining it with other genres. Imagine, if you will a tribal heart tattoo design. That would be really cool wouldn’t it? The heart tattoo in the picture is a perfect example of what you can do with a little imagination. This women has combined the common bow and made it extraordinary by the addition of two little hearts. And this particular design could mean many things but my interpretation is not only the simplest but what I feel is the best. This design represents to me the "gift of love". And I don’t think it could have been said any better then with this heart tattoo design.

Isn’t it just a bit curious that all fifteen of these heart tattoo designs have a vine that is made to look like barbed wire and it is wrapped around each and every one of these hearts? That was the first thing I noticed here. And I started thinking what the significance of this is and all I can come up with is that somehow this heart is bound to something maybe. Bound to a certain set of principles. Bound to another person. Unavailable to anyone else but the person it has been promised to.

I think maybe it is a little bit of all of those things, but if it something else all together I certainly would like to know.

I generally like most heart tattoo designs and while I do not really dislike these, I am not that crazy about them either. They are just not very imaginative and that’s what I like to see in my tattoo artwork. A little imagination and a little creativity. Something to separate it from what you might normally see. Something special is the best way to say it really. I always want my tattoos to stand out as something special and it really should be that way for everybody.

Since the first tattoo was applied to the human body, people have been getting heart tattoos. But, how many of us actually know the facts about the human heart, much less a heart tattoo? I imagine not many of us do, so let me fill you in with some fascinating facts about the thing that beats in our chest every minute of every day for the rest of our lives. I bet you didn’t know that all the veins and arteries in the human body, if they were removed and laid end to end, would circle the Earth several times over.

That’s right, we have over sixty thousand miles of arteries, veins and coronaries. That’s amazing. Another thing about the heart that I find interesting is that it looks nothing like heart tattoos. The actual heart is just a mass about the size of two adult fist put together. I have one more thing to tell you before you run out and get a heart tattoo. Did you know that your heart will beat over two billion times during your life. Now that you are armed with knowledge go ahead and get that new heart tattoo and wear it with pride.

I generally like checking out the many styles of heart tattoos one runs into out there. And this one is interesting too. It is a little hard to get a perfect read on it because it would appear that this photograph was taken right after the tattoo was done and this whole area of the skin is still irritated and swollen. And that makes it harder to read than normal but it would appear to be a very small heart with a crack in it.

As if this girl had recently had her heart broken and now she’s getting one of these heart tattoos to let people know that she knows what it feels like.

Of course a broken heart can happen to people a lot of ways and for a lot of reasons so the reason for the broken or cracked heart is not really something that can be guessed at. But the one thing that seems for sure is that this girl means to way that her heart has been permanently cracked. Scarred for life so to speak. Her heart was broken so bad that she will carry part of that pain with her always. One just never knows about these heart tattoos.

Heart tattoos can mean many different things. Take the heart tattoo in the picture for example. This person has decided to get a heart tattoo that contained the names of her children. I think that’s a marvelous idea and it’s better then getting one of these designs with the name of your lover on it. That usually only results in tattoo regret. However, getting a heart tattoo of your children is something that you are going to want to keep forever. After all, your children will always be your children.

And heart tattoos have a very sentimental feel to them. I don’t know if it’s because these designs have been in our culture for so many generations or if it’s because the heart has been a symbol of love since the Roman age. My wife has a heart tattoo design inked on her and it’s a beautiful tattoo. It’s has banners that are dedications to each of our children. As I said previously, this is a tattoo that she will never tire of because it will always remind her of her children and how precious they were at birth. Hopefully, you now have a few ideas for your first, or next, heart tattoo.

For your first ink session or as an addition to a body of work, you really can’t go wrong with a heart design tattoo. They have a long tradition and their are literally thousands of different styles available. Some of the more popular designs include a banner dedication to a loved or as memorials to one’s parents. Who hasn’t seen the classic heart design tattoo with a mom banner across it? Not many people I would imagine. Heart design tattoos are often paired with cherubs, another symbol of love and these are usually dedications to a lover.

Other examples include a heart pierced with a sword, dagger or arrows. The physical representation of a heart being pierced with any object is symbolic of directed energy, flow and the physical act of penetration. Heart tattoo designs coupled with thorns or barbed wire are usually indicative of the binding power of love. And heart tattoo designs coupled with flames indicate either religious fervor or the passion of love. The last example I would like to talk about is the heart in the hands tattoo design. This is symbolic of a more maternal or paternal type of love for ones parents or grandparents.

Heart tattoos are a design element that’s been around for a very long time. I would say that they have been popular probably since the turn of the century. You would normally see heart tattoos inked on the skin of sailors or merchant marines. And then as time went by, you started seeing them on soldiers and bikers. Now, so many people have gotten heart tattoos that it has almost become a cliche.

If I show you a heart tattoo that has a banner around the middle of it then you would probably tell me that you have seen this design a million times before. I know I have. In fact, I can remember watching cartoon characters that had that familiar heart tattoo on their forearms. It was usually on the characters that were supposed to be tough, like the infamous bull dog in the old looney toons cartoons. Most of you will know what I’m talking about. But, the heart tattoo doesn’t need to be corny or played out. With a little imagination you can come up with a heart tattoo design that blows everyone away. And that’s the point of getting a tattoo in the first place, isn’t it?
