Ladybug Tattoos

Ladybug tattoos are often viewed as dainty feminine designs that have no deep symbolic meaning. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Ladybug tattoo designs are not only beautiful but contain deep symbolic meaning to many different cultures. In Asian cultures for instance, Ladybug tattoos are associated with good fortune and good luck. To the farmers of France and England, the ladybug was also seen as an indicator of good weather and good fortune. This meaning of good fortune that is attributed to the ladybug can be traced back to the Middle Ages.

Ladybug tattoos can also be done in a variety of colors and styles that further emphasis it’s symbolic meaning. I have seen ladybug tattoos that feature these insects colored in green and gold, the symbols of material wealth. I have also seen other elements that symbolize good fortune added to these designs. These include dice, shamrocks and playing cards.

This tattoo is also one that doesn’t have to only adorn the bodies of females. Males can also wear these tattoos with pride. This is especially true if the guy is a resident of Delaware or New Hampshire, because they are the official insect of these states.
