Literary Tattoos

Literary Tattoos

The idea behind literary tattoos is fairly simple. Literary tattoos are written quotes from a person’s favorite novel or book. These tattoos can show the person’s interest in a particular genre of literature, can showcase the talent of their favorite author or showcase their favorite character. These tattoos give wearers a wide latitude to express exactly what they want to express.

Some of my favorite literary tattoos are quotes that are burrowed from various authors. Let me give you a few examples. “Every man’s life is a fairy tale written by God’s fingers” by Hans Christian Anderson.

“Always speak the truth, think before you speak, and write it down afterwards.” by Lewis Caroll. “Faith is not contrary to reason” by Sherwood Eddy. “All good writing is swimming under water and holding your breath.” by F. Scott Fitzgerald. “History is like a constantly changing tree” by David Irving.

I have also seen some very good literary tattoos featuring pictures of author’s or their characters. I once saw a literary tattoo that featured Mark Twain giving Tom Sawyer a piggy back ride. This tattoo was not only interesting, funny and witty, but it was also full of symbolic meaning. These are just some of the things that can be achieved with literary tattoos.
