Punk Tattoos

Punk tattoos are often associated with the counter-culture movement that existed during the 1970s and 1980s in the United States and Great Britain. punk tattoos, like the rest of the movement, was based on non-conformity of appearance and music styles. It is often represented by various symbols and the creative use of hairstyle and clothing styles.

Generally speaking, punk tattoo designs are a potpourri of various images and symbols burrowed from other cultures. These punk tattoo designs are often placed in very conspicuous spots such as the neck, hands, face and head.

Since the culture is heavily identified by its musical tastes, many punk tattoos also contain reference to bands or song lyrics.

Most of the time, punk tattoos are very brightly and use a lot of shading. Since they believe that most people are conformist and that society is lacking creativity, punk tattoos are usually very unique and contain bright hues and at times, conflicting statements. One word of caution must be given, however. If you are considering one of these rebellious tattoos, then make sure that you know what the symbols mean and are willing to make the statement that you are making. Anything less will make you look like a “poser”.
